OUR HISTORY

Sustainability

We believe it should be easy to commit to a sustainable solution. Therefore we strive hard to keep our products quality high while priced low. We also try to make it simple to make business with us, we believe that is equally important.

We also care deeply about social responsibility and do good for the local community. We operate from a small town, Hyltebruk in Sweden and most of our employees are not only long-term employees of ours, they are also born and raised around Hylte. The town is known for its rich history in the paper and pulp industry and is now at the forefront of a new era in sustainable materials manufacturing. A growing society which may become the Sillicon Valley of sustainable materials? Oh well, one should allow themselves to dream sometimes.

THE JOURNEY

From the start to where we are today

2014 Innovation and development started.

2018 Sales and production of woodcompounds started within Stora Enso Group.

2020-2022 Since start we have continued to develop woodcompounds with adding new high-performance grades, products for 3-D printing and extrusion.

2022: Introduces the capabilities to create circular business models for its customers by investing in capabilities to handle old products at end of life and turn it into new granules ready to be used in new products.

2023 The business entity is acquired by Sweden Timber Group from Stora Enso Group and is registered solely under the name of Woodcomposite Sweden.

OUR PLATFORM

Compounding and Recycling

The platform is built on a number of different processes.

  • Fiber milling – capacity to mill fibers to very specific sizes
  • Drying of paper pulp
  • State-of-the-art compounder facility with capacity to compound 20,000-25,000 tons dependent on formulations. The compounder can handle production of Woodcompounds and recycled plastic granules.
  • Recycling capabilities such as e.g. shredding of large items into smaller pieces

PART OF SWEDEN TIMBER GROUP

Part of a sawmill and paper production group

Woodcomposite AB is part of a bigger sawmill and paper production group: Sweden Timber and Hylte Paper. The group produces wood-based goods such as sawn and planed products and high-quality paper. The raw material comes from responsibly and sustainably managed forests.

Our Vision

At Woodcomposite Sweden, our vision is to contribute to the common good by creating products that actively reduce CO₂ emissions. We achieve this by using renewable resources such as wood and biobased polymers derived from plants. Our commitment extends to supporting the Swedish forestry industry, a cornerstone of our nation’s heritage and a key player in global sustainability efforts.

Swedish forests have experienced significant growth over the past decades, today covering apr. 70% of the Swedish land amounting to 28 million hectares. Since the 1950s, the volume of standing timber in Sweden has nearly doubled, increasing by approximately 80%. This growth is a testament to effective and sustainable forest management practices that ensure a net annual increase in forest resources while supporting biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Young, rapidly growing trees play a crucial role in carbon sequestration. They absorb carbon dioxide at a faster rate compared to older trees because their growth rate is higher, leading to more efficient carbon capture and storage in their biomass. This process not only helps mitigate climate change but also contributes to healthier and more resilient forest ecosystems.

By leveraging the strength of Swedish forestry and utilizing advanced renewable materials, Woodcomposite Sweden is dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for generations to come. We strive to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility, ensuring that our natural resources continue to thrive and benefit the common good.
