Tr\u00e4fiberinblandningen varierar mellan 20 och 55 procent och den polymera inblandningen best\u00e5r av PP (biobaserad eller fossil) och PE (biobaserad).<\/p>\n

Sweden Timber acquires Aspa Bruk from Ahlstrom<\/h3>\n

Sweden Timber has signed an agreement to acquire Aspa pulp mill. Pulp from Aspa mill is used in a number of special applications. This complements and strengthens Sweden Timber’s position on the global market. This is completely in line with Sweden Timber’s strategy to be an obvious alternative for all the customers’ needs.<\/p>\n

Sweden Timber is a Swedish owned company that produce wood, paper and woodcomposite products for a global market. The business today consists of sawmills, planning mills, paper mill and production of granulate in biocomposite where wood replace plastic. Aspa pulp mill produces bleached and unbleached softwood pulp that is used in a broad range of applications in paper and sold globally. It has an annual capacity of approximately 200 000 tonnes and 174 employees.<\/p>\n

The acquisition of Aspa will be another step in our strategy to continue growing and developing the company. Through this acquisition, Sweden Timber broadens its existing product portfolio containing paper, wood products and biocomposite with pulp. Positive conclusion on EU & US FDA Food contact approval<\/h3>\n

Well renowned and independent third party institute, Intertek has determined that the PP Bound on Wood Fiber with Maleic Anhydride is in compliance with applicable US FDA food contact regulations and safe for its intended use as long as the limitation listed in the test report is followed.<\/p>\n

The manufacturer of the final food contact article containing this product is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable US FDA regulations to ensure that the finished food contact article is compliant for its intended use.<\/p>\n

For the EU, as determined by the Phase One Regulatory Compliance Review, each component of the PP Bound on Wood Fiber with Maleic Anhydride has an applicable EU regulatory status for use in food contact applications. Intertek further concluded that the final product as produced by the client isrequired to pass both SML and OML testing as outlined in the applicable EU regulations. Subsequently, the testing required by EU 10\/2011 was conducted, and the results were found to be in compliance.<\/p>\n

In summary, based on all aspects of the assessment described above, Intertek has determined that the PP Bound on Wood Fiber with Maleic Anhydride is in compliance with applicable EU food contact regulations and safe for its intended end use.<\/p>\n

EUDR information Wodcomposite Sweden<\/h3>\n

EUDR(The European deforestation regulation)<\/em><\/p>\n

EUDR no 20023\/1115 is a regulation that shall be active from 30:th of December 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s aim is to minimise the EU\u2019s contribution to deforestation and badly managed forests in the world and at the same time promote the consumption of products from well-managed forests in the EU.<\/em><\/p>\n

EUDR replaces in time the EU Timber regulation.<\/em><\/p>\n

At Woodcomposite Sweden AB, we are currently working with the implementation of the EU deforestation regulation, and we are following the European Commission\u2019s information on the subject.<\/p>\n

We are in close collaboration with log and fiber suppliers but likewise independent governing bodies such as Biometria, a well renowned registration system of harvested logs in Sweden. Woodcomposite Sweden AB follows the generally set directives in the regulation and will provide requested data once the reporting structure of this regulation is defined. Note that for now, there is no official data gathering process or decision on how the regulation will be applied. Woodcomposite Sweden AB solely utilizes wood fibres from FSC certified sources in Sweden.<\/p>\n

Due Diligence and risk assessments have started. Our group company supply chain and IT are already working on designing a robust solution to receive and manage the EUDR Reference Numbers and geolocational data, creating appropriate data flows that can communicate with the information system TRACES which is central in upholding all reference numbers and due diligence information.<\/p>\n

We are also committed to provide accurate information to our customers on time to enable demonstration of their compliance with the EUDR.<\/p>\n

Introducing a new container \u2013 cutting emissions by more than 50%<\/h3>\n

FrostPharma has together with M\u00e4larplast, and in collaboration with Stora Enso, developed a range of new hazardous waste containers consisting of a renewable material, biocomposites. A material made of Nordic wood fibers and bio-based PP.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe product line is called WoodSafe\u00ae, and it consists of seven containers in different sizes. They are already in use, the results are great, and it\u2019s been well received by the market,\u201d says Peter Wall CEO M\u00e4larplast.<\/span><\/p>\n

A life cycle assessment performed by an independent party looked at WoodSafe\u00ae waste container\u2019s environmental impact and compared the material to the most common alternatives available in the market. It showed that by using a WoodSafe\u00ae container you can lower the CO2 emissions by up to 66% compared to when using a container from virgin plastic.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission was to lower the carbon footprint from the healthcare sector and create a sustainable, yet safe, alternative to today\u2019s products,\u201d says Henrik Alfredsson from FrostPharma.<\/span><\/p>\n

The result is WoodSafe\u00ae, manufactured in Sweden with renewable raw materials. The containers are easy to implement as they have the same sizes and the same handling as the ones traditionally used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clinical waste containers are the 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0biggest source of plastic waste in the healthcare sector. Danderyd\u2019s Hospital in Sweden is one hospital who identified the impact a switch to WoodSafe waste containers can make.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis new product reduces our climate impact. The only difference from the old waste container is that it smells like wood. Otherwise, no difference, they are great and easy to work with,\u201d says Johanna Albert, Anesthesiologist, Danderyd\u2019s Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n

Discovering the UV stability of woodcompounds has been a focus of our extensive testing efforts. Our results indicate that for a wide range of pertinent applications, the necessary UV thresholds have been successfully met, making our materials suitable for direct sunlight exposure. This achievement follows the development of our Prime family in 2021, intended to supplant high-performance polymers like PPGF, HIPS, and ABS, with applications spanning electronics casings and components, helmets, safety products, and automotive interiors. Customer pilot feedback, particularly regarding UV performance, has driven us to conduct numerous tests, ultimately leading to successful enhancements. The tests, executed on representative high-performance material samples, included exposure to UV light for 500 and 1000 hours, simulating long-term exposure under various conditions worldwide. Our findings indicate that mechanical properties generally remain stable, with observed changes primarily in surface and visual aspects. These changes depend on the specific test conditions, the inclusion of color and UV-masterbatch, with color selection affecting the degree of whitening. To ensure optimal UV performance, we recommend combining UV additives with a color masterbatch, thereby meeting the necessary UV levels for a wide array of outdoor applications.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
