A material made of Nordic wood fibers and bio-based PP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe product line is called WoodSafe\u00ae, and it consists of seven containers in different sizes. They are already in use, the results are great, and it\u2019s been well received by the market,\u201d says Peter Wall CEO M\u00e4larplast.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A life cycle assessment performed by an independent party looked at WoodSafe\u00ae waste container\u2019s environmental impact and compared the material to the most common alternatives available in the market. It showed that by using a WoodSafe\u00ae container you can lower the CO2 emissions by up to 66% compared to when using a container from virgin plastic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOur mission was to lower the carbon footprint from the healthcare sector and create a sustainable, yet safe, alternative to today\u2019s products,\u201d says Henrik Alfredsson from FrostPharma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The result is WoodSafe\u00ae, manufactured in Sweden with renewable raw materials. The containers are easy to implement as they have the same sizes and the same handling as the ones traditionally used.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Clinical waste containers are the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0biggest source of plastic waste in the healthcare sector. Danderyd\u2019s Hospital in Sweden is one hospital who identified the impact a switch to WoodSafe waste containers can make.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis new product reduces our climate impact. The only difference from the old waste container is that it smells like wood. Our results indicate that for a wide range of pertinent applications, the necessary UV thresholds have been successfully met, making our materials suitable for direct sunlight exposure. This achievement follows the development of our Prime family in 2021, intended to supplant high-performance polymers like PPGF, HIPS, and ABS, with applications spanning electronics casings and components, helmets, safety products, and automotive interiors. Customer pilot feedback, particularly regarding UV performance, has driven us to conduct numerous tests, ultimately leading to successful enhancements. The tests, executed on representative high-performance material samples, included exposure to UV light for 500 and 1000 hours, simulating long-term exposure under various conditions worldwide. Our findings indicate that mechanical properties generally remain stable, with observed changes primarily in surface and visual aspects. These changes depend on the specific test conditions, the inclusion of color and UV-masterbatch, with color selection affecting the degree of whitening. Note that for now, there is no official data gathering process or decision on how the regulation will be applied. It showed that by using a WoodSafe\\u00ae container you can lower the CO2 emissions by up to 66% compared to when using a container from virgin plastic.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>\\u201cOur mission was to lower the carbon footprint from the healthcare sector and create a sustainable, yet safe, alternative to today\\u2019s products,\\u201d says Henrik Alfredsson from FrostPharma.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>The result is WoodSafe\\u00ae, manufactured in Sweden with renewable raw materials. The containers are easy to implement as they have the same sizes and the same handling as the ones traditionally used.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>Clinical waste containers are the 3<sup>rd<\\\/sup>\\u00a0biggest source of plastic waste in the healthcare sector. Danderyd\\u2019s Hospital in Sweden is one hospital who identified the impact a switch to WoodSafe waste containers can make.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>\\u201cThis new product reduces our climate impact. The only difference from the old waste container is that it smells like wood.
